History:

The Shrine of Sam Ong Hu Cherngtalay, formerly known as the Gim Huen Tien Shrine, is a significant ancient religious site that serves as a focal point for the thoughts and values of Thai-Chinese individuals who have resided in the Cherngtalay Municipality for an extended period.

Inside, there are three carved Deity images, which are over a hundred years old and were invited from China. They are Heng Hu (black face), Chu Hu (red face), and Lui Hu (green face). Together, they are called “Sam Ong Hu”, which means three sacred objects or three deities.

The structure of the Sam Ong Hu Cherngtalay Shrine has undergone a renovation, transitioning from the original wooden structure to a concrete structure. It has been lavishly decorated with exquisite paint in the style of the original Aam or shrine, and has been meticulously maintained with the cooperation of both the community and the Cherngtalay Municipality.

The ancient carved deity images that were invited from China, the beauty of the shrine building, and the reputation of the sacred deity images have made the Sam Ong Hu Shrine well-known and popular with both Thai-Chinese and foreign tourists. The Sam Ong Hu Shrine in Cherngtalay is also an important place for ceremonies according to the cultural traditions of Thai-Chinese people every year. The various activities that are held include the Vegetarian Festival, which is held on a grand scale and has made the shrine famous and well-known both to Thai and foreigners.
