History:

The Saengtham Shrine, also known as the Shrine of Teng Kong Tong or Xing Jia Gong in Hokkien Chinese, is another ancient shrine located in Phuket that dates back hundreds of years. The building is located in a small alley on Phang Nga Road. This shrine was built in 2423 B.E. by Luang Amnaj Nararak (Tan Kuat) in order to enshrine the Chinese deities that the lineage had worshiped since the beginning. It was us. It was utilized as a location to express reverence and venerate sacred objects, as well as a gathering place for relatives and acquaintances.

Besides its secluded and peaceful location in the middle of the city, Saengtham Shrine is also notable for its traditional Chinese architecture. The structure itself is a small, compact Chinese pavilion. The roof is decorated with beautiful stucco dragons and Chinese dolls, which are popular in Fujian Province (Hokkian), which are popular in the province. Inside the shrine, there are also black line drawings in square grids on both side walls, telling the story of Xi Yin Gui of the Song Dynasty, which is a legend about the past life of the deity Ong Sun Tai Sai when he was a human.

In the year 2540 B.E., the Saengtham Shrine was awarded the Outstanding Conservation Award by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, through the selection of the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage. The shrine underwent a major renovation in 2542 in celebration of its 109th anniversary in 2543.

Saengtham Shrine is located on Phang Nga Road. From the Phuket Road intersection, you’ll see a small alley beside the Krung Thai Bank. Saengtham Shrine is located in this alley.
