The 24th Phuket Bike Week will be held from 11-14 April at Loma Park, Patong Beach and many other locations in Patong as well as from 20-21 at the Boat Lagoon.
Phuket’s Governor, Norapat Plodthong, comments that “Phuket Bike Week will help improve the tourism business in Phuket during April because this is a big event. Many bikers, not only from Phuket but from other countries as well, will get together. Moreover, the event can be a good model campaign for the upcoming ‘Seven Dangerous Days’ by encouraging people to wear a motorcycle helmet.”
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office Director Kanokkittika Kritwutikon also encourages local people to join in at the event and to welcome visitors from around the world. The director also believes that the event has potential to welcome high-spending tourists as well.
The highlight of the event is of course the many bikers from 30 countries bringing 10,000 bikes to the event. Bike Week will include motorbikes and custom bike exhibitions, concerts, a ‘Ride for Peace’, a Miss Phuket Bike Week competition and a beach party. For the event at the Boat Lagoon, there is also a bike competition and a concert. The event is supported by many organizations such as the Patong Municipality, the Third Naval Area Command Hq. and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. These all guarantee an enjoyable and fun week.
