Phuket Island features a lot of attractions, ranging from fabulous beaches to verdant mountains and hillsides. Phuket E Magazine would like to introduce its readers to another fascinating aspect of the island: Phuket Local Farm.
Phuket Local Farm is located in Amphor Thalang on an area of 25 rai. At the farm, take a ride round the premises on an old-fashioned cart pulled along by a buffalo. The first stop of the tour is a ‘demonstration field’ where visitors learn about farming practices of yesteryear.
The next stop is the farm’s rubber tree plantation where you can learn about, and even try out collecting rubber latex from the trees.
Another interesting spot to visit is the pineapple farm. Phuket pineapples are considered the best in Thailand! Moving on, watch how the farm’s smart monkeys collect coconuts from the top of the palms then relax and enjoy the fresh juice. Delicious.
The farm’s traditional wooden Thai house is a perfect place to take a rest and to find out how the farmers mill the rice in the open-sided basement – the coolest spot in the house. Upstairs is where you’ll find the kitchen and bedrooms. There, you’ll notice a manmade clay oven.
Before the end of the visit, try Thai coconut dessert with coffee in a pavilion near the canal and have little chat with the farm’s owner. If you are the type of person who enjoys the slow life and fresh air do visit this ‘Phuket Local Farm’ or call for information or reservation at 081 9794193
